Flex: 路在何方 – Flex 4.5之后的发展方向(Flex: where we are headed)

It has been about three months since we shipped Flex 4.5 SDK and a corresponding update to Flash Builder, in which we delivered exciting new capabilities to build and deploy applications for Google Android, Apple iOS and BlackBerry Tablet OS platforms. The feedback on the release has been fantastic – with customers blown away that they can leverage one tool, one framework and one codebase to deliver apps across leading mobile platforms, not to mention web and desktop as well.
?????????Flex 4.5 SDK????Flash Builder??,????High????:?????Android???iOS????????,????Flash??????????? – ??????:????,?????????,?????????????????,???????Flash???AIR???

Since then the product team has been heads-down working on our future plans for Flex SDK and Flash Builder, and although we’re not quite ready to share all the details, we wanted to provide you with some insight into what we’re focusing on, and where we expect to make investments going forward.

Investing in Flex, Flash Builder, Flash Player and AIR
????Flex,Flash Builder,FlashPlayer?AIR

Adobe is continuing to make significant investments in Flex, Flash Builder, Flash Player and AIR – we have hundreds of engineers who are actively working on exciting new tooling, framework and runtime features and enhancements to be included in upcoming releases.
Adobe??????????Flex,Flash Builder,Flash Player?AIR – ??Adobe??????????????Flash????????,???????????,?????Hold??!

Our teams are currently working on a free update to Flex SDK and Flash Builder for release later this year that will further demonstrate our commitment to delivering a complete solution for building and deploying mobile applications to multiple platforms.
Adobe????????2011????????????????????????:?????????,????????????

Beyond this update we’re already working to deliver our nextmajor releases.
?????,???????????????

Recognizing the role of Flex has changed
???Flex?????????

Since its inception, Flex has been highly leveraged as a leading solution for building “rich Internet applications”– potentially applicable wherever a rich, expressive and engaging user experience delivered via the browser was required. We’ve seen product configurators, e-commerce sites, games, e-learning experiences, banking services, business dashboards, photo editors, audio/video channels, productivity tools, line-of-business applications and more, all built with Flex.
Flex?????RIA????????? – ????????,???????????????????????????????:????,??????,??,??????,????,????,????,??/??,????,????????,……,????Flex???

We’re at a point now where it is incumbent upon us to focus on where Flex provides unique value in the marketplace.
??Adobe??Flex???????????????

There are countless examples where, in the past, Flex was (rightly) selected as the only way to deliver a great user experience. Today, many of those could be built using HTML5-related technologies and delivered via the browser, and at Adobe, we will provide tooling to help designers and developers create those experiences – Edge and Muse are two such examples.
????????,?????,Flex????????????????,?????????HTML5??,????????Adobe????????????????????HTML5?? – Adobe????Edge?Muse???????

That doesn’t mean however that HTML5 is the right choice for all use cases – the performance, framework maturity and robust tooling provided by Adobe are sighted as critical factors by enterprise customers as to why they continue to select Flex.
???????HTML5??????????? – Adobe?Flex??????????????????????????????????,????????Flex?

We firmly believe that Flex is already the best technology for building complex, high fidelity enterprise applications such as business dashboards, line of business tools, real time trading applications and desktop replacement applications, and see leading healthcare, financial services, telco, etc companies standardizing on it. We will continue to heavily invest in strengthening Flex for enterprise use, ensuring that you can deliver expressive, robust applications. As we share more details about our upcoming releases, you’ll see our commitment to tackle areas such as Spark component completion, accessibility, build system integration, performance analysis tooling and integration of a next-generation compiler, making Flex the #1 choice for building enterprise-grade RIAs.

Mobile – the next big thing for Flex
??-Flex?????

But we’re not just investing in the enterprise. The explosion of mobile devices has opened new doors for end users, enterprise organizations and developers, while at the same time introducing a new set of development challenges. As you’ve already seen with Flex 4.5, we are making big strides in providing developers with a single framework for building and deploying mobile applications to a range of different devices and platforms.
Adobe???????????????????????????????????????????,?????????????????Flex 4.5????????:??????????????????????,??????????????

We’re continuing to focus on runtime performance, native extensions, new components, declarative skinning, adding more platforms and improving tooling workflows, such that in our next major release timeframe we expect that the need to build a fully-native application will be reserved for a small number of use cases.
Adobe??????Flash??????????????????????,??????,???????????????,???????????????,??????????

The growth of the mobile market and the challenge of building out applications that work on a range of different form-factors and platforms present us with a huge opportunity to expose Flex to an entirely new audience of developers, while continuing to be relevant for existing Flex developers who are extending their applications to mobile.
?????????,???????????????,????????????????????Adobe???????????,?????Flex?????????????,????????Flex????????????????

The perception of  “Flash”
“Flash”???

All of this is no good of course if there are misperceptions or lack of awareness about what Flex (and more broadly Adobe) offers for Enterprise and Mobile application development. With all the FUD about Flash that has been in the marketplace over the past many months, we are highly focused on demonstrating just what Flex is capable of, both in the enterprise and for mobile app development.
????????Flash????????,????????Flex?????????????????,??Flash???FUD,??Adobe?????Flex?????????????????

On the enterprise side, we’re continuing to build meaningful relationships with large organizations as we introduce them to Adobe’s Customer Experience Management(CEM) solutions. Flex is a core part of our CEM technology offering and the dialog we’re having with customers allows us to intelligently position Flex, Flash Builder and our runtimes as a way for them to deliver exceptional customer interaction through rich Internet applications and easy-to-use interfaces on web, desktops, tablets and mobiles (including Apple iOS devices).
?????,Adobe?????????????????Adobe???????(Customer Experience Management)????? Flex???CEM?????,????????Flex????????Flex, Flash Builder?Flash??????????????????:RIA??,?????Web??,????,?????????(????iOS??)?

For mobile, while we’re relatively new to the market we’ve already seen a great response to our offering – trial downloads of Flash Builder are higher than they’ve ever been before and we’ve already seen hundreds of mobile apps built and deployed to app stores, including several applications that top their category in the Apple App Store. As we roll out additional mobile development capabilities later this year, you can look forward to seeing stronger mobile-focused developer marketing from Adobe, including a series of case studies that highlight the success customers are having with Flex.
??????,??Adobe????????,???????????? – Flash Builder???????????????????Flash???????????,????????????????????????????Flex???,?????Adobe????????????????????Flex??????????

We’re excited to be working on the next-generation of Flex and look forward to getting continued feedback and input from both new and experienced Flex developers. Be sure to register for Adobe MAX, October 1-4 in Los Angeles, to learn more about our Flex roadmap.

Leveraging AFDKO Tools to Convert Name-keyed OpenType Fonts to CID-keyed — Part 2

Part 2 of this series will demonstrate how AFDKO tools can be used to specify multiple FDArray elements (aka, hint dictionaries) when converting name-keyed fonts into CID-keyed ones. The same technique can be used to convert a CID-keyed font with a single FDArray element into one with multiple FDArray elements.

The sample font in Part 1 of this series does not have enough script “richness” to demonstrate this technique, so I crafted a different sample font for demonstration purposes. Again, the technique is easily scalable, and can thus handle thousands or tens of thousands of glyphs.

Someone kindly pointed out that I failed to do one important thing in Part 1 of this series, specifically to enumerate reasons why one would want to convert a name-keyed OpenType font into a CID-keyed one. So, before I begin Part 2 in earnest, I will provide three benefits of CID-keyed fonts:

Up to 256 FDArray elements can be specified, and each can have its own hinting parameters, meaning alignment zones (/BlueValues and /OtherBlues arrays), stem values (/StdHW and /StdVW values, and /StemSnapH and /StemSnapV arrays), and /LanguageGroup setting. Explicit control over the mapping from character codes, such as Unicode, to glyphs is possible through the use of a CMap resource. Name-keyed fonts use glyph names to drive the mapping from character codes to glyphs, which is implicit control. If the glyph set corresponds to an existing CID-keyed character collections, or is a subset thereof, that character collection’s resources can be leveraged to ease font development.

The AFDKO mergeFonts tool is used to specify multiple FDArray elements, which is done through the use of multiple mergeFonts mapping files (at a minimum, one per FDArray element) and by specifying the FDArray element name as the argument for the “mergeFonts” text that is the first line of the mergeFonts mapping file. The /LanguageGroup setting can also be specified as a second argument. Click here to download an archive that includes the various files and resources that are referenced in this article, including the original name-keyed Type 1 font (named font.pfa).

Consider the name-keyed Type 1 font, font.pfa, that includes the following 48 glyphs:

In addition to mapping these glyph names to Adobe-Japan1-6 CIDs, we will also arrange them into five FDArray elements, mainly based on glyph class.

Step 1: Create the mergeFonts Mapping Files

The character coverage of this sample font corresponds rather nicely to the Adobe-Japan1-6 character collection (see Adobe Tech Note #5078), specifically to a tiny subset of the /Supplement 0 portion. After a mapping to Adobe-Japan1-6 CIDs is established, it can be used to construct the following five mergeFonts mapping files, which effectively separate the glyphs into separate FDArray elements based on glyph class, script, or usage:

generic.map:

1126 uni5516
1127 uni5A03
1128 uni963F
1129 uni54C0
1130 uni611B

It is important to note that the argument after the “mergeFonts” text in the first line of each mergeFonts mapping file specifies the name of an FDArray element. Thus, if two different mergeFonts mapping files specify the same argument, the glyphs will share the same FDArray element. Here are the FDArray element names:

KozGoAJ10-ExtraLight-Generic
KozGoAJ10-ExtraLight-Proportional
KozGoAJ10-ExtraLight-Dingbats
KozGoAJ10-ExtraLight-Kana
KozGoAJ10-ExtraLight-Kanji

Step 2: Create the CIDFont Resource

As soon as the mergeFonts mapping files and a “cidfontinfo” file are prepared, the following mergeFonts command line can be executed to produce a CIDFont resource named “cidfont.raw” that has five FDArray elements:

% mergeFonts -cid cidfontinfo cidfont.raw generic.map font.pfa proportional.map font.pfa dingbats.map font.pfa kana.map font.pfa kanji.map font.pfa

The AFDKO tx tool can be used to verify that there are indeed five FDArray elements (shown after “## FontDict[*]” lines), and what their hinting parameters are:

% tx -0 cidfont.raw
## Filename cidfont.1

Step 3: Apply Hinting Parameters

Of course, it doesn’t make much sense for multiple FDArray elements to share the same hinting parameters, so after adjusting the hinting parameters to be appropriate values and running the AFDKO autohint tool to apply them, the tx output is different:

Step 4: Build the OpenType Font

This CIDFont resource declares the Adobe-Japan1-0 ROS, meaning that existing Adobe-Japan1-6 resources, such as the “UniJIS-UTF32-H” or “UniJIS2004-UTF32-H” CMap resources for building the ‘cmap’ table, and ‘GSUB’ features, can be leveraged. This simplifies development, because these resources can be used, either as-is (CMap resources) or in modified form (‘GSUB’ features). The “FontMenuNameDB” and “features” files still need to be created. The following AFDKO makeotf command line will produce a fully-functional OpenType font:

% makeotf -f cidfont.ps -r

Please stay tuned for Part 3 in this series…

I Second that Emotion! Using Emoticons in an Adobe Connect Meeting

I frequently get asked how to better engage participants during Adobe Connect presentations. My answer is always –EMOTICONS  :) – icons participants can click on to express emotions that appear next to their names in the attendee list. These emoticons can express laughter or applause, ask the host to speak louder or slow down, or show raised hands. They’re a great way for presenters to engage an audience during a live meeting.

The emoticon “Raise Hand” feature is a way for participants to ask for microphone rights during a VoIP meeting. If a host acknowledges an attendee’s raised hand by “accepting” it, that allows the participant voice rights.

A great product legacy story is when I first began hosting web meetings in Adobe Connect—and before the emoticons were part of the product—participants used to “clap” by typing “………” in the chat pod. Today, we’ve made expressing emotions during a meeting much more fun, I think.

If you haven’t, give emoticons a try in your next meeting. And let us know what emoticons you’d like to see in Adobe Connect next.

Office in the cloud: what's in it for you?

Office 365 LogoThe time is right for Office extend their Horizonte--in the cloud. Office-365 adds the Web versions of your favorite applications in Office 2010 and the server side of the equation: Exchange online for managing e-Mail and calendar, SharePoint online sites and cooperation, and Lync online for real-time communication such as online meetings and videoconferences. The server applications that cost prohibitive manage on its own for a small business can be, bring Office to a whole new level. This is, why more than 200,000 organizations are tested the service during the beta phase, and many cost savings now up to 50 percent.

I am to my marketing hat for a minute and you say what I think is especially cool about Office-365. Here are some examples:

Rather than having to send thoughts on version control and security, not attachments. Send a link by e-Mail to a SharePoint site, where your colleague can access the latest version of the document. In Office applications, you can see which colleagues are present.  This tells you whether you call, IN IM, or e-Mail contacts should, or if they are not available.Work on the same Word document with several people at the same time. You know when someone else checks a document and see your changes in real time, without worrying about versions or information. You share calendars with team members, and access e-Mail and calendar on almost any device that you use.

Our customers see value Office 365 also instant.
I hear love how Office 365 small businesses helps. For example:

Beas insurance agency, Office 365 for email, shared calendars, document workspaces, collaboration and instant messaging - they used all for the same cost a small firm in East Palestine, Ohio, spend only e-Mail. "We get great business tools on a small business costs", says Jeff Stewart, one of the owners.

Travellers haventhat provides temporary and corporate housing in all 50 States will avoid about $100,000 in hardware, software maintenance, and Elia says the cost of a staff IT person with Office 365, Wallén, President of the society. She also says that the service about 30 additional hours companywide, stores every day by the simpler for employees find information and connect with colleagues. "This is as with three more people in the Office," she notes.

Hjelm-Wallén delighted the use of Lync online for real time communication. "Betting that we send more than 1,000 instant messages per day,", she says. "It is much more effective as a series of e-Mails to send, and it's amazing, in a position, click on a button, and move an instant messaging conversation with a video call will."

Which table style should I use?

Tables are often seen in school reports, and business papers. Benefit readers of makes it easy to look up information. Of their best tables provide data in a concise and orderly way. Of course not precise and proper mean boring. Jazz Word table styles to quickly can things up. But use the table style? There are so many to choose from.

If you apply a table style to your table, you add color, typography, and others who not only make attributes your table look good, but ideally be these attributes increase and your table message. And if you remember in this way, you can run by logic and purpose when you select of a table style.

The first decision that you'll make is pretty generic. How many rows and columns do you need? As soon as you that know, click on, where you want to insert the table. Click the Insert in the group tables Tabletab, and then drag the number of rows and columns.

You can always add rows or columns later, when you get it right, not for the first time.

Once you have a table and the cursor in the table is positioned to see you the table tools contextual tab on the Ribbon with tabs design and layout displayed. Click on the design tab, see the table styles Gallery along with options for table format.

Before you into the table format template gallery , you should first select your styles table options. Select your options will restrict that range from what is displayed in the Gallery to only the table types that you need.

If you have a header row or first column, the formatting of the top row of cells, or effects such as such as fat include highlighting the first column of cells, italic, color, etc.. This is illustrated by the category labels from the body of the table — that is, separating part of the table with the data.

You can add a line that summarizes the information in your table by clicking on the total row. If is your data in columns, you can set a last column a total or summary it add.

Connected lines improve apply the readability of large tables by automatically shading for every other row in the table. The banded rows check box is enabled by default. If you want to assign alternative columns instead of alternate row shading, you can disable this check box and select related columns instead.

You have defined the table style options. Now if you open the table styles Gallery and you move the mouse over the table styles, see a live preview of your table you exactly how you have defined it. The other formatting options such as the available colors and fonts are defined by the selected theme for your document.

It can be also useful to note that the table formats of colour in columns are arranged. You can focus your attention this knowledge, on a color group, which already coordinate well with the other colors in your document.
If you simply click on the style that you find.

Select a table style from the format template gallery table instead of directly formatting borders, shading, alignment, fonts, and so on is a good choice. If you change your mind and decide, select a different table style or if you decide to change the design of your document, the contents of the table is automatically updated.

Mac nerd friends: A little help here?

“Hello, my name is John, and I practice unprotected computing…” (“Hello, John.”)

Until I upgraded my Mac to Lion, I was a rigorous user of Time Machine: I’d plug in a Drobo at work, and I’d connect to a Time Capsule at home. It paid off when my hard drive died & my bacon was saved.

Ever since moving to Lion, though, I’ve been unable to back up. Connecting to either backup produces a “Preparing to back up” cycle that can last for hours or even days. It’s unusable to the point that I think I should just wipe the backups and start fresh.

Here’s where more problems ensue, however:

Deleting the backup from the Drobo was incredibly slow, to the point that I reformatted the drives and thus somehow rendered them inoperable (!). I need to carve out time to work with Drobo tech support, but I haven’t been able yet.I can’t wipe my Time Capsule (which contains other data), and due to space constraints, I can’t start a new Time Machine backup without trashing the first. I fear the process taking more hours or days.Okay, fine–for now I’ll just buy a new, fresh, cheap hard drive. Without doing research (!), I grabbed a big Seagate 2TB USB 3.0 drive. “No prob,” I figured, “this thing should be USB 2.0-compatible and more future-proof.” Now, however…After reformatting the drive, Time Machine backups continuously fail. Things seems to go great for tens or even hundreds of GB of data–then simply stall out forever. This has happened several times, always at different points, even across reformatting.Okay, fine–forget Time Machine, let’s do Carbon Copy Cloner. Unfortunately, even after reformatting (again) per CCC’s instructions, the backup failed ~66GB in. Given the TM failures, I’m not inclined to try again.

So, here’s what I’m wondering:

Is there something wrong with the data on my Mac–something that would cause old backups to stall & new ones to fail?  And if so, is there a diagnostic I can run to find & hopefully fix the problem? Is there something screwy with Mac OS support for USB 3.0 devices? Is there something screwy with this particular drive?

My Google-fu has failed to provide a solution, so thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.

Outlook calendar: No would there?

I think one of the most powerful features in all Office is in the Outlook calendar. I use it for keeping track, not only of meetings and appointments, but also for tasks, to do lists, reminders, and much more. All Office programs, it is MacGyver (my opinion anyway).

But I would be willing to bet that you a good many tricks are not aware, that can make the calendar with you even more useful. I have been using Outlook for years and years, and I'm learning is still new things about the calendar. Today I'll offer a few calendar tips, really your life (not to mention your calendar more useful you) can help.

If I my Outlook calendar, why not, I am not even sure that I would exist. Here are seven of my favorite tips:

Set up their calendar so that it shows as you like, so many weeks in a particular period of time to see

-You choose the days (or weeks) in the navigation pane of the calendar view (one on the left side that displays the entire month). If you want to see this period of time for the next few months, click the arrow next to the month name in the navigation calendar.

Fast several days side by side in the calendar view

-Drag the date picker on the data you want to view.

Saturday and Sunday in separate boxes in your monthly calendar view

-To display weekend days in separate boxes in the month view in Calendar view , right-click, and then click more settings. Clear the Compress weekend days check box.

Switch to viewing by month in calendar

-Click in Calendar, and then press ALT + equal sign.

Get details of the calendar in month view

-In the month view on the Start , in the group arrange select month, and then click the arrow below it, and select what level of detail you would like to see -low, medium , or high.

Change an appointment quickly in an all-day event

-Drag the Calendarin day view the appointment on the day header.

Change the time periods in the calendar grid

-You can change the default setting for 30-minutes slots, 5, 6, 10, 15-, or 60-minute window change. With the right mouse button on the Calendar, click more settings, and then click the number you want from the list of time scale .

Hungry for more? There are a lot more information out there about considered using the Outlook calendar.

Incorporating Tablets and Mobile Devices Into Your Creative Process

Before the announcement of our Adobe Touch Apps, we asked our Creative Suite Ambassador Group* how they use tablets or mobile devices during the creative process, and what they hope to see from tablets and mobile devices in the future. We wanted to share some responses below, and would love for you to weigh in by leaving your thoughts in the comments below.  Also, check out the video above of Creative Director Brian Yap talking about how he sees tablet apps enhancing his workflow.

“I use my phone to take pictures of things that are interesting, creative, or inspiring. This way I have an ever-changing source of inspiration in the form of a photo album. When I purchase an iPad I plan to use it to sketch out quick ideas and rough drafts when I’m on the go or away from my workspace.”

- Joe Weber

“I use my iPad mostly for research. I’ll search the web, and view content related to my project. I use my iPad… [to explore] how content is designed, and how well the interface and interactivity has been developed for the user.”

- Joseph Caserto

“I’ve recently displayed my portfolio on my iPad. Fabulous! When I teach I use the iPad to often draft class notes, research on the web [and] test out demonstration ideas.”

- Joy Makon

“I keep a portfolio of images of my work in my media folder on the BlackBerry so I can show potential clients my work or take them directly to a website I have designed.”

- Cathy Rudd

So, how do you use tablets and mobiles in the creative process? Which Adobe Touch Apps are you looking forward to exploring?

*Note: Our Creative Suite Ambassador Group is currently a closed community. We will evaluate future opportunities to open the group. For those interested in joining, please stay tuned for more updates on group openings.

From you to US: 5 ways Word works for you-.

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

For our last blog post of the year, we took a look back to see which ones you read the most. It’s no surprise that the top five were tips—the shorter the better for reading at work.

Who knew that the lowly footnote would rise to the top? Or the line that separates your notes from your text? If those picky details are taking too much of your time, watch this video: Change the footnote or endnote separator.

It's great to keep track of all your changes. But then how do you get rid of that markup when your document is done? Or how do you avoid confusion when your suggestions are starting to look like spaghetti? Can you hide them? What if your document contains hidden markup that you don't even know about? Tracked changes is a really helpful tool, but questions like these need answers, making this track changes post one of the most read.

Why is there a lot of empty space at the top of my document? How do I change the size of my page margins, and why do some page elements make my margins seem larger than they are? The trick? Show the boundaries of the text on your page. Want a longer explanation? Ron Owens shares his page margin tips.

Coming in at number two in our count down: business cards. Yes, Publisher's still the better program for creating them--but it's possible to make business cards in Word, at least until we have the 3-D holograms.

And the number one Word blog post for 2011: Line spacing—how to change the space between each line and paragraph. We chalk up its popularity to the default spacing that ships with Word: 1.15 between lines, with extra blank space between paragraphs. Either you like it, or you don't. Or maybe you want to set your own customized line spacing as your default.

Travel Centre with new SmartArt graphics

This is the fourth in our series of blog posts about 10 new SmartArt graphics that are available now for free. Today's post was written by Mary Sobczyk, Office writer. Check out other newly released smart art here, hereand here.

I would like to introduce you two more new SmartArt graphics - topic image alternating accent and theme image grid.

I have been thinking about where you go for summer holiday (if money were no object). In addition to reviewing the OneNote TripBooks for inspiration, I thought I would use this SmartArt graphic layouts, to gather ideas. These layouts would both be also an excellent way to display your travel pictures.

In this example in the main screen is a map, and then smaller images are individual countries. This layout switches between squares and rectangles, which makes it easy, your horizontal (rectangle) and vertical (square) display pictures.

New Theme Picture Alternating Accent SmartArt graphic

I have also some of the text centered and the font color in the text areachanged.

I use this SmartArt graphic to plan what I want to do on my trip every day. Set-off the image from the frame makes my images are characterized by the eye draw. Just be careful you, that the frame has performed an important part of the image.

New Theme Picture Grid SmartArt graphic

Both this SmartArt graphic layout works well for a family photo, where the parents would be the first (overview) and then the children (and pets!) in smaller images could be.

So, what's your favorite smart art and why? You say more in the comments what you want by see and use as you choose, the SmartArt graphic.

PS: If you do not see the new SmartArt graphics, connected galleries to enable explains check out this introductory post, wHich.
