Along with worldwide commercial availability, Office 365 announces new global customers

Office 365 for businessToday, we announced worldwide availability of the new Microsoft Office 365 services for business; the most complete Office cloud service to-date has new features and offerings tailored to meet the needs and budgets of small, medium and large organizations.

Since launching in mid-2011, Office 365 is one of the fastest growing businesses in Microsoft history. We are pleased to welcome new customers the Hamburg Port Authority, Sephora, and Midroc Europe to our growing family. Here's a little more about their stories:

As the largest port in Germany, the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) employs over 1,900 people who manage more than 7,000 hectares of port territory, both by land and sea, ensuring safe navigation of vessels coming in and out of the harbor.

The winter season in Hamburg is particularly grueling for the HPA, with severe storms often resulting in hazardous surges and increased flooding across the region. It's during these times the ability to stay mobile and communicate in real time is crucial. With Office 365, HPA employees aboard water vessels rely on their tablet devices to measure and track wave size and water levels, and communicate directly with the harbor, responsible for monitoring emergency response. In a situation where every minute counts, the ability to connect in real-time and share critical weather updates are vital.

HPA is also looking at the ability to reduce the IT labor hours to test, install, and update Office versions by 75 percent with Click-to-Run in Office 365 Pro Plus. And, by reducing this management time, the IT staff can focus their time on more strategic projects.

Sephora is a specialty beauty retailer with more than 1,650 stores within 29 countries in Europe and 115 locations in China. At Sephora, they don't want their employees to work more - they want them to work smarter by staying connected and able to work wherever they are. And they've found that with Office 365.

A major advantage Sephora staff has discovered is being able to access and edit documents with the roaming capabilities in Office 365 Pro Plus. Instead of carrying a laptop to and from the office, employees can access their files from their PC, mobile device or tablet allowing them to work in the office, on the road, or from home.

Midroc Europe, a Sweden-based organization comprised of 15 companies across Europe and South Africa, focuses on property development and management. With expanding operations and employees working remotely, Midroc Europe wanted to provide improved access to email and collaboration tools for their dispersed teams.

After evaluating several options, including Google Apps, they selected Office 365 to provide over 2,600 employees with an integrated communications experience including email, IM, voice and video capabilities in Office 365. They also see the social capabilities in SharePoint Online as yet another way to connect employees and foster learning. Employees who traditionally did not have a company-issued PC will be able to send or read email from their smartphone, and report their hours from a shared PC directly to SharePoint Online.

We're excited and humbled to work with such a high caliber of businesses that are viewed as leaders in their industry and adopting new ways of leveraging the power of the cloud. We look forward to sharing more with you about how Office 365 is helping customers transform their businesses.

Steve Ballmer announces the new Office 365 Home Premium

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Steve Ballmer is the biggest doof in CEO history..

Windows 8 Phone & Office 8 Mobile are the biggest scam in the history of the internet.. its nothing but shameless promotion of Microsofts Cloud crap, and their 365 perpetual Office payment plan...

Office 8 is the most useful piece of crap on the face of the planet... You cant even make your own Bullet Points..in fact 90% of the functionality has been completely removed, you cant even make a simple bullet point, without editing someone's template with random useless bullets all of the place.. , things which you've been able to do since Windows mobile 2003 office...

you are likely not the stupidest people one earth, so we can assume its by design.. to make your phone users hate phone experience so much they will opt to buy your desktop office suite, or at the very least, buy your crappy tablet in addition to their phone, just to be able to make a very simple office document..

2013? more like 1913... your Powerpoint cant even create a simple slide, a function at least 10 other office alternatives can do on Android & iPhone..

I walked into a Phone shop today, ready to buy your Windows Phone, until I opened up Office and smelled the foul stench of your CEO's underpants in my face, taunting me to not use office on the phone, and instead rely on my desktop & the cloud for everything, which naturally makes a tablet a necessity, whilst telling me what a naughty boy he had been... "nana-nana", he seemed to say whilst waving his soiled under-shorts in my face, "im a CEEE-EEEE-OOOOO" he taunted..

he is as senile as the office development team

did you give up brains, functionality, usefulness, practicality, and all manner of features, just so that CEO could flash a pretty little screen around to the little children he seems disturbingly far more interested in?

windows 7 is awesome.. windows 8 is your desperate attempt to straggle behind the leaders.. your CEO doesnt have vision, his head is up the rectums of Google & Apple, who are both far ahead of where he thought he would pop out to...

your CEO is WAY too old to compete in this market.. he's no Jobbs.. and shouldnt have a Job.. tell him to take 365 and roll the entire project back in his rectum from whence it came., and stop pathetically short-changing everyone to promote your other products..

if you little clowns want to make phones, then make phones.. or cant u say 'conflict of interest'....  tell Steve Ballmer to go back to running hair-care companies, and trying to figure out how to cheat the socks off of elderly customers by getting them to invest time & money in hairless schemes.. and STOP screwing around with people who know better

you little clowns have COMPLETELY abandoned your faithful users, who've been with you since 2003... you are a bunch of dikkfaces.. now go screw yourselves

should a company like Microsoft, with its current CEO & development team, even be ALLOWED to OWN a patent?

no.. they shouldnt.  its like taking the patent for electricity, and putting it in the hands of an imbecile who'd rather stick the world's only lightbulbs into his rectum all day..

your little windows 8 phone is nothing but a design to create a need for your crappy tablet.. your craplet, to coin a perfectly suitable phrase for your entire windows 8 agenda

why dont you give us all a Windows7-like experience on the Mobile phone, and re-take 90% of the market... rather than letting Steve Bumballs tank your entire company with his hair-salon tactics

stop forcing your crappy windows8 agenda down everyones throats.. take a step back.. remove your head from the developers rectum to your left, and try creating a phone that is as useful and functional and welcoming as the Windows 7 platform itself... rather than trying to turn the entire planet into little red blocks..

Perhaps Steve Bumbells can just be in charge of developing exclusively for the gay community, and someone with a bit more of a brain can develop Microsoft Windows phones for Microsoft Windows users..

how are you going to abandon all Microsoft Windows 7 users, and your own Windows 7 platform, for an obviously failed idea in Windows 8

the community has told you to kindly go screw yourselves

take a hint..

Adobe announces Eduserv Adobe ELA Framework Agreement

Students are now paying up to £9,000 a year in tuition fees. As such, Universities should anticipate their new intake of undergraduates to have much higher expectations about what they’re getting from their studies. With more and more employers expecting their staff to be well versed in digital, there will naturally be increased demand from students for access to industry-standard technology that will help them get a job once they graduate.

To support institutions in meeting this demand, we’ve launched a new three year license agreement, the Eduserv Adobe ELA Framework Agreement. It means that both Further Education and Higher Education institutions will be able to provide access to Adobe’s latest Creative Suite software across the whole campus for the first time. Plus staff get it too!

We’re working with loads of leading institutions to help them deliver a strong digital offering. Here’s what a few have to say about the Eduserv Adobe ELA Framework Agreement:

Kirk Laws-Chapman, Resources Manager, Norwich University College of the Arts:

“The new Eduserv Adobe ELA Framework Agreement has provided Norwich University College of the Arts with an affordable way to give our students access to latest industry standard software across the campus. Meeting expectations against a background of rising tuition fees is a challenge, and this is a great way for us to add value to the student experience here.”

Phil Purves – Senior Lecturer, Bath Spa University:

“I’m confident that a lot of current and future students will benefit the new Eduserv Adobe ELA Framework Agreement. In addition to saving the University money, it is giving us software consistency everywhere with the latest CS6 suite available on whatever machine is capable of running it. All our creative areas have been keen to support this new agreement. It’s going to make a huge difference.”

Steve Harvey, Arts University College at Bournemouth:

“The Arts University College at Bournemouth (AUCB) feels extremely privileged to be signed up to the Eduserv Adobe ELA Framework Agreement. It enables us to offer more access to industry standard software at a good price, but also helps with the strategic development of software maintenance to align Education and Business application deployment.”

For more information on how to sign up to the agreement, check out www.eduserv.org.uk/ela. To be included in the next entry point in November 2012, institutions must complete all paperwork by 24th October.

Liz Wilkins is Senior Marketing Manager for Education at Adobe Systems UK. Her involvement with Adobe Education products has seen her work closely with a range of educational institutions, championing the use of digital media tools in the curriculum, and their integration into a number of subject areas in order to better prepare students for the future demands of the workplace. Liz works closely with teachers and administrators integrating software, curriculums, and instructional resources as well as certification options and professional development tools. Through promoting digital literacy in cross-curricular education, teaching essential career skills, and streamlining administrative processes Liz has experience working in partnership with a diverse portfolio of schools and further education institutions.
