Using personalisation to create unique digital experience

There’s a high correlation between great customer experience and three key elements of loyal behaviour: willingness to buy more, reluctance to switch, and likelihood to recommend. Given today’s consumers interact with brands across many different channels and devices, marketers are left with a number of challenges – which channels are most relevant to their brand, how do they manage multiple channels and how do they evaluate the success and business impact of their activities?

Check out our recent webinar with Forrester and Pippa Barron, Renault UK’s Online Development and Publishing Manager. Here they discuss best practices to increase engagement, relevancy and personalisation and put customers in the driving seat.

Read on to see how we’re working with Pippa and her team to create a unique experience for Renault’s customers:

Understand what your customers want: Customers increasingly expect to conduct all their vehicle research online, including pricing, product, colours, and options, before they even go into a dealership. We’ve worked with Renault to integrate engaging media across its site. Adobe Scene7 displays images, shows video, and provides other content that allows visitors to explore available models and vehicle features for a better digital experience.Use enhanced images: By providing 360-degree views of each vehicle the customer can even see inside the car before going to the dealer.Offer personalised options: Using the colour-rendering option Renault customers can see swatches of all available colours and zoom in to really get a feel of what their car will look like in the colour option that they’ve chosen. This level of personalisation lets customers get a good idea of what colour car they want before they ever step into a dealership.Provide engaging hot spot content: Renault used Scene 7 to implement engaging hot-spot content (both text and video) where specific features and functionality are described and demonstrated in detail. This enables Renault to showcase its products and to zoom in to give the customer a great experience about what the product is really like. Offer relevant product videos: Renault used Scene7 to add four to six product videos per car showing key features and functionalities in detail. These included test drives or TV commercials that highlight the performance attributes of different models, as well as some information about the car that might move the viewer closer to a purchase decision.Provide up-to-date brochures and product price guides: Renault maintains a vast library of e-brochures and price lists for all its models and these are updated weekly using our technology. It also has a wide selection of supporting brochures about paint trim selections, financing options, and features like satellite navigation to provide the most up-to-date content for its customers.Evolve to meet customer expectations: Renault’s looking to evolve in ways that meet customer expectations in terms of mobile and desktop functionality. It has a mobile-optimised site that is compatible with all smartphones, and it will soon offer the 360-degree spin and zooming functions as well as video.

Digital Campus Report: Why new tuition fees must drive a revolution in HE digital provision

Hot off the press! Today we’re releasing our Digital Campus Report, which reveals the rise in tuition fees is leading students across England and Wales to question the value for money they will be getting from their University.

Students are specifically scrutinising access to support facilities such as libraries, a ‘digital campus’ with industry-standard technology and well-qualified and accessible tutors as key factors when they’re judging the value for money offered by a University.

As a result, we are calling on Vice Chancellors to review their ICT strategies to better support students and lecturers.

Click on the infographic below to see all the key findings in detail:

Check out the full report here which also includes different industry perspectives from the Vice Chancellor at Coventry University, as well as lecturers at Met Film School, Norwich University College of the Arts and Harrow College.

Inspiring the youth of today through Digital Media

It’s so important to give young people the opportunity to express themselves creatively.

One such initiative which is doing just that is Adobe Youth Voices, a programme by the Adobe Foundation which aims to empower youth from underserved communities with digital media skills so that they can comment on their world, share their ideas and take action on issues that are important to them. More specifically, the programme encourages young people to express themselves through documentary videos, photography, print media, radio diaries, animation, web communications and other media.

The Adobe Foundation recently announced the winners of the first-ever Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Awards. The only global youth competition of its kind, the Aspire Awards showcases the very best of digital media created by teens, aged 13-18, who have demonstrated outstanding creativity and skill using video, print and/or audio to convey perspectives on issues that are significant to them.

There  were more than 800 submissions, with entries accepted in eight categories spanning animation, documentary, music video, narrative video, poetry/experimental video, audio, graphic design and photography.

A global panel of teen peers, youth media professionals, educators and media industry experts, including photographer Neil Bennett, spoken-word poet Sarah Kay and director Robert Kenner were responsible for judging all this fabulous work.

The lucky winners received prize packages containing Adobe software, laptops provided by Dell, HD camcorders donated by Samsung, Flip Mino HD video cameras, and a donation to their charity of choice. In addition, winners will get the opportunity to showcase their projects publicly through art galleries, Digital Arts Magazine, plus partner film festivals and exhibitions worldwide, including the Seattle International Film Festival, the Sarajevo Film Festival and many more. What an incredible opportunity!

I’ve had a look at all the winners and amongst my favourites are Fermin Martinez from Puerta Joven (Mexico City, Mexico) who snapped up a Gold Award for this great video in the Animation category and Christian Ogando from the Urban Arts Partnership (New York, United States) who won a Gold Award for his Propaganda Posters in the Photography category.

This great initiative demonstrates just how effective digital media is at helping people across the globe make their mark and speak out about the issues that are important to them.

Have you expressed yourself in a creative way using digital media? If so, get in touch!

Recipes gone wild? Collect digital or scribbled ones in an OneNote cookbook

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

onenote recipe bookOne of the oldest recipes ever to be discovered is a 4000-year-old beer formula recorded on a clay tablet. Those brew masters would envy the ways we catalog recipes today:  a scrawled family recipe on an index card, bookmarked recipes from Allrecipe.com, or the batter-splattered page of your mom's cookbook.

All those recipe formats have a clear downside. How the heck do you organize them so you can find one when it's time to cook?

It's really easy. You put all of them (except for the 4000-year-old clay tablet) in OneNote. It lets you drop in screen clippings, scanned images of handwritten recipes, and even recorded reminders to go slow on the hot pepper sauce.

To help you get started, we created this OneNote cookbook. Download it for free and make it your own by following these simple tips.

When you find a recipe on one of the countless recipe websites, you can drop it into OneNote in three clicks.

Go to your favorite foodie site and pick out a recipeWith that webpage open, go to the Insert tab in OneNote, and click Screen ClippingSelect any portion of the online recipe, and voila! The recipe drops into OneNote-along with the URL for easy reference

Do you ever follow a recipe to the letter? It's easy to record your audio notes to add a dash more of this or a sprinkle more of that, and play it back later.

Go to the Insert tab, and click Record AudioStart speaking or recording, and when you click Stop, it adds the recording to the page

Got a lot of food in your refrigerator that you don't want to go bad? Save a trip to the grocery store by searching your recipes for what you have on hand.

Go to the Search box located in the top-right corner of your notebookType in an ingredient and choose what you want to cook

Handwritten recipes passed down from over generations have sentimental value. For safekeeping, scan them into OneNote and put the originals away.

Connect a scanner to your computer and put the recipe facedown on the glassGo to the  Insert tab, and click Scanner Printout In the dialogue box, click Custom Insert, and then click Start

The scanner starts and when it's finished, plunks the recipe into your OneNote cookbook..

After you've put together a cookbook to rival Wolfgang Puck, you can share it with your own friends and followers by using OneNote with SkyDrive.

Watch this video to learn how.

The Office team is heading to the BlogHer Food conference this weekend in Seattle to showcase how

Office 2010 makes the perfect kitchen companion. We'll be demonstrating these five OneNote tips above and more. If you're going, be sure to stop by booth 17 and say hello.

Ross Wallis from Sidcot School on art in the digital age

I’ve been an Art teacher for many years now, and have seen the subject change almost beyond recognition from when I first started teaching. Students now have video, web and image editing tools as well as oils, watercolours and acrylics at their disposal to tell stories and express their creativity. And the results are, quite frankly, awe-inspiring.

At my own school, we introduced digital tools to the core Art curriculum to give our students the best learning experience and early access to tools that they will be required to use when they start their careers. And we get them started young; we have students as young as eight using the likes of Adobe Flash, Dreamweaver, Premiere and Photoshop.

I tend to set open briefs for my students – firstly to give them the freedom to experiment with different digital tools, and secondly to prepare them for working life when, at some point or another, they will be faced with having to respond to a brief that requires them to problem solve and recommend a solution.

Contemporary artists are doing wonderful things integrating digital tools with traditional art materials, and this is something I try and reflect in my lessons, letting students use the media they best respond to. For one project, my class of seven year olds painted insects they saw on a trip to the Natural History Museum and then used Adobe Flash to transform those painting into animations of their bugs scurrying over a grassy background.

Some of the work my students are producing thanks to these tools is truly outstanding – check it out here http://www.artatsidcot.org/  I’ve also created a Photoshop Pingpong! teaching resource on the Adobe Education Exchange www.adobe.com/go/aeeuk which you may find useful for your school.
