Liz Wilkins, Senior Marketing Manager, Adobe Education UK responds to launch of new comparison website for university courses

Last month’s launch of Unistats by Vince Cable is a positive move during a time of great uncertainty for students, which will help to reassure those that may be questioning the value for money they will be getting from their University now they are paying higher fees.

We’re experiencing the most radical changes to the Higher Education sector in decades. The student experience will naturally evolve as a result – but it’s important that undergraduates who are starting their University careers this Autumn feel it is changing for the better. As well as judging value for money on factors such as teaching hours and future job prospects, our own research* tells us that students are scrutinising access to support facilities such as libraries (60%) and the provision of more than just basic ICT so they can develop the ‘essential’ skills needed for the workplace.

We welcome this fresh approach to supporting students in navigating the new obstacles they face in choosing a University. But for it to have real impact, University Vice Chancellors must ensure they’re in a position to be able to meet the demands of the next generation of student, particularly with regard to the provision of industry standard technology which many young people consider to be instrumental in helping them secure employment later on. Needless to say, those able to adapt their strategies will be far more appealing to students looking for reassurances that they’ll have more than just debt to show for their University careers.

Marketing + buzz words = (new Office comic)

Sometimes I wonder how it is to work in marketing. I know other times, what is it...

Marketing + Buzz words =

Today's Office comic was inspired by a previous comic I have cloud terminology.

Random tip: the thesaurus in Word rocks. Instead of drop a hat, try the thesaurus.

Dazzle them with your marketing plan: A 5-minute makeover (video) 28 Mar 2011 7:00 AM Comments 0

Last week, we looked at project plans, and before that class presentations. This week, we're taking a look at marketing plans as the last in our 3-part 5-minute makeover series for PowerPoint 2010.

Easily add themes, masters, and SmartArt graphics to make your presentation really pop. It's pretty cool to see just how much more professional, colorful, and interesting you can make a standard text-heavy presentation. And the best part? Your audience will love it -- they'll be more engaged with what you're saying, and will be much more likely to remember what you talked about and how you presented it.

Watch the video below, and then get the template used in the makeover.

The cloud + marketing = (new Office comic)

"The Cloud" and related terms appear to be the new hotness in these days. I was not sure what the terms meant, so I read a few things online. Big mistake.

It took some time to figure out, but close to how I recognize, here are the terms which mean

The Cloud + Marketing = (new Office comic)

Today's Office comic of inspired was inspired by an email from my Manager (thanks, Louis!).

Note: the above conditions are real. If you are curious, read what they really mean, more about this cloud deployment models on Wikipedia.

Random tip: "The Cloud" is not all hype. Is the Office Web apps to do my favourite pastime in the cloud to the view and edit Office documents from my browseruse.
