Software subscriptions: #progressive or #premature?

ChangeAdobe was a pioneer in the software subscriptions creative cloud, offer their software subscription service through revelation in the last year.  Yesterday, they took the next step by announcing plans to discontinue development of their creative suite or other CS products. All future efforts to concentrate on creative cloud, Adobe will no longer offered his classic, packaged software product in this category.

Industry reaction is mixed. Some Experts show how the future of others to explore challenges and a few ask if Office comes next.

How Adobe think we, that subscription software-as-a-service the future. The benefits for consumers are huge. Subscribers are always up to date. Get the latest and most comprehensive applications.  You can subscriptions through the variety of devices to use the people today. Web services such as SkyDrive, and applications such as Skype are also more easily in subscription services such as the new Office 365 Home Premium.

In contrast to Adobe, we think that shift will take people from software packages to subscription services. Within a decade, we think that everyone that decide which are subscribed to, because the benefits are undeniable. In the meantime, we are obliged, bid-, premium-quality software as a package sold and powerful services as subscription sold.

As evidence for this point, since the launch of Office 365 Home Premium and Office 365 University in January have to buy more than a quarter of the consumer Office selected the subscription. This has exceeded our expectations as the software subscriptions are relatively new for most consumers. So, the shift has happened perhaps faster than we originally thought, and Adobe helps the trail blaze. Tell us @Office or in the comments what you think.  Software subscriptions: #progressive or #premature?
