Review: Anki helps you to learn and memorize virtually anything, for free

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Spaced repetition is a simple study principle: I show you the front side of a flash card bearing, say, a word in Spanish. You then have to tell me what that word is, in English. If you got it right and it was very easy, I won't ask you again in another two weeks; if it wasn't so easy, I'll ask again in a week; and if it was really hard, I'll ask again tomorrow. In this way, you don't have to spend time going over material you already know–the system adapts to the data you've acquired, Software like Anki (free and open-source) bring ease, sophistication, and much more power into this process. And if you think flash cards are only for memorizing trivia or language, you'd be surprised.

Anki makes it easy to break down information into separate bundles.

Trivia and language are the two most common uses, and flash cards are great at that. I first tried using Anki almost two years ago, when I decided to master the NATO phonetic alphabet (Alpha, Beta, Charlie, and so on). I used Anki's mobile companion, AnkiDroid, for most of my studying, and it was remarkably effective. Within a few short days I was able to spell out anything using the NATO alphabet, and I retained the knowledge for months. Recently, I came across something called the Janki Method, in which you use spaced repetition to learn anything, including computer programming, and not just limited sets of data.

Cloze-type cards have you fill in the blank, either mentally or by typing the answer.

The key piece here is creating your own decks of cards. Anki plugs into a free service called AnkiWeb, which hosts many ready-made shared card decks. There are some users who carefully created extensive decks of cards for learning anything from anatomy to Japanese, and it is very easy to download these packs. Creating one from scratch seemed like a lot of work, until I realized the key was to do it incrementally, one new datum at a time, as I learn.

Once the answer is revealed, Anki asks you to rate how easy or difficult it was to recall.

Anki makes it very easy to create new cards, and you can create different types of cards. The most basic type is the traditional flash card. There's also a reverse card, where you're sometimes shown the front ("Chair") and sometimes the back ("Silla," Spanish for chair). You only enter the information once, and Anki is smart enough to generate multiple cards based on the data.

Anki also features more traditional flash cards, with front and back sides.

Another great type of card is the Cloze, where you include a paragraph of text and blank out some words ("O say can you see [...] early light"). Anki then shows you the card and you need to recall the missing part. You can also use one block of text to generate many Cloze-type cards, making card generation very easy.

Unlike with physical cards, Anki shows you the front and back at the same time.

You can also have Anki prompt you to type in the right answer using your keyboard, which is excellent for mastering programming language syntax. There is an art to creating the right type of cards: SuperMemo, a commercial spaced repetition product that preceded Anki, put together a great list of the 20 rules of formulating knowledge in learning.

It is easy to edit the current card and amend it right when you're studying.

Anki is a mature product, but its interface can seem unintuitive at first. There is a learning curve to both the system and Anki, so if you're just starting out, you should probably find a ready-made pack of cards and use that for a while. You can then transition over to creating your own cards.

All in all, if you enjoy learning new things (or have to, for school), Anki is an invaluable piece of software, well worth the time it takes to master and use on a daily basis.

Note: The Download button on the Product Information page will download the software to your system. This program is a known to receive false positive malware results from Norton Antivirus.

The Internet has caused a lot of changes in the learning process on the various tools used in computing. First off were those online computer tutorial courses that offer reading materials and accounts on a tutorial course provider's website. Upon registration for an online computer tutorial course, which usually required people to cough up a huge amount of cash, people are considered formal students of the computer training course. They are given access to the forum and discussion boards, which contain necessary information on the course.

With faster and more accessible Internet connections, the profitability of online tutorial courses did not take the assumed leap it should have taken, along with the improvements on Internet connectivity. This is because despite the accessibility and affordability of faster Internet connections and more secure online transactions, people around the world still could not afford the registration fees that most online computer tutorial course providers are asking for. Plus, how could these providers expect a huge stream of people registering for an online computer tutorial course when a huge percentage of these people could not even browse the Internet?

Video tutorials on computer training, specific application tips and tricks, and even on computer hardware troubleshooting and optimization techniques are not new methods of learning the craft of such IT-related skills. But over online computer training courses, these video tutorials have a lot of advantages to boot. Yet, you have to make sure that what you're getting on either a VCD or a DVD, is well worth your cash and your time.

There are dozens of video tutorial providers who integrate tutorial systems on their videos that aren't quite useful or even aren't as efficient and effective as an online computer training course. As such, you should check the credibility of your sources of video tutorials on computer training techniques and tactics. Maximum Software has released a new suite of video tutorials for each level of skill and a specified field of interest.

With a company such as Maximum Software and its years of efficient IT-related products and services, credibility is already assured. Plus, you are also assured of the most updated and accurate video tutorials on computer training techniques and tactics due to the IT professionals that they employ as creators of the video tutorials. After all, why would you need a video on application-specific tips and tricks when you could easily discover such tactics yourself?

With the credibility of such providers of video tutorials on computer training, the next step for you to take is to carefully consider the training system integrated in the DVDs or VCDs of their computer tutorial suite. The main disadvantage of online computer training courses is that these programs do not cater to the difference in pacing and learning systems of each individual. But with video tutorials from credible sources, a seamless learning and teaching system is integrated in each video tutorial offered. Maximum Software's video tutorials are designed to provide users tips and tricks sans the time pressure, thus providing people of a learning process at their own pace.

Pacing when it comes to learning computer techniques vary from each person to the other. With video tutorials that can be rewound and fast-forwarded, paused and stopped, and can be viewed numerous times in the person's discretion, it would not really matter much if the videos were created with slow or fast teaching process. With the video tutorial suite packages of Maximum Software, careful considerations have been made so as to get the actual pacing that is on the middling portions of the learning spectrum.

The virtual lessening or total absence of time pressure in learning the techniques of each video tutorial package of Maximum Software is also a very huge advantage over those online computer training courses. Online courses abruptly end without making sure that all formally registered students have learned everything there is to learn from the program. Come to think of it, these providers of online computer training courses don't even assure that their students have learned something, even anything, of the things that should be helping them advance in their technology-related fields!

Maximum Software provides either newbies or intermediate computer users the option to choose a specific field of interest when it comes to their video tutorials. This would definitely be a big boost on the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire learning process. This option would not bore the person of the techniques and tactics included in the video, for they themselves chose a specific field of interest.

Plus, carefully dividing a field of interest into sub-classifications makes the learning process not only easier, but efficient as it should be. This avoids the mental stress or information overload that a user may likely experience given the broad range of topics in a single video tutorial. For instance, Maximum Software has divided the Windows Office XP application video tutorial suite into several classifications. As such, those who only want to learn Word can learn everything about Word, and be overwhelmed with information on, say, the less used Access program of the Windows Office XP suite.

The video tutorials from Maximum Software can be securely bought and downloaded from the company's website. You can also check on the credibility of this company and the reliability of their security measures when it comes to online transactions involving money and personal information. This would provide you with more peace of mind regarding the reputation and credibility of Maximum Software. However, this company has been in the IT industry, delivering quality products and services in the field. With such a track record, it would be rather doubtful if the company doesn't appear as credible and reputable as it actually is.

Maximum Software products are designed for maximum accessibility and readability. Users would not get lost with information on their chosen videos because the functions and features of the products are conveniently displayed on the site. There are detailed information on each video tutorial package to be found on the website. Contact information of the company can also be found on almost all pages of the websites, a feature which just goes to show the sincere intent to encourage proper website design and development.

Furthermore, Internet surfers would find it very easy to navigate their way through the website because of its informative and seamless design. As mentioned, information are provided regarding the corresponding features of the video packages. Upon acquiring the necessary information on a product or service you are interested in, you can now take the next step towards buying yourself an efficient and effective video tutorial on your chosen field of interest. The website properly gives you further instructions on how you can get the product, and a standard set of security measures and privacy provisions which protect the user and the company alike.

The website lists the selection for your chosen video tutorial package. You can learn various versions of Windows, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and more. The company even has video tutorials on Ebay! Plus, there are a couple of good promos here and there that you can avail with your purchase. You can browse and select the bonus packages you can get, according to your tutorial needs and your own budget. After doing so, you are taken to the online payment transaction, which is very secure in terms of cash transfers and personal information exchange between the user and the company. After a successful transaction, you will be asked your preferred delivery mode, which would either be through downloading the video tutorial on a secure FTP server or physical transference systems.

If you need more information on acquiring the very useful and efficient video tutorial on the computer training course of your choice, you can check out the provider's website by clicking here http://www.software-tutoring.com

Discover Adobe Photoshop CS3

Adobe Photoshop is a software package developed and marketed by Adobe Systems Incorporated of edition of the graph: this is the program Leader of the market for publishing professional raster graphics.

Today, most of the people who buy Photoshop will probably get as one of the Adobe Creative Suite 3 packages. Adobe Creative Suite 3 is a collection of graphic design, web development and video editing applications. The package is available for Apple Macintosh and PC Microsoft Windows-based computers. In the case of the Apple Macintosh, all major programs are provided in the form of "universal binaries", a single program file that can run on PoDokusC and x 86 (Intel) Apple Macintosh.

There are several variants of the Creative Suite 3 all: Standard of design, Design Premium, Web Standard, Web Premium, Production Premium and Master Collection. Each of these packages includes a different bundle of software applications. Adobe Photoshop CS3 or Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended is included in all variants of the package except for Web Standard (in fact, most variants include Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended).

Note that Adobe Photoshop is a very powerful program, but due to its sophistication, it can quite hard to learn. This problem arises because of any defects in Photoshop - on the contrary, Photoshop is very well thought out and easy to use - but simply because the program has the same functionality. In addition, many news for Photoshop users will need to not only learn the program itself, but also to learn graphic design, pre-press terminology and techniques. But don't let that stop you - there are many excellent online tutorials, training packages, books and even DVDs that can help you quickly learn Adobe Photoshop CS3.

Learn Photoshop now - it's easy

Click the Brustic to open brush selector predefined and scroll down to see the default set of brushes. Towards the foot of the list of default brushes, you will find a variety of advice unusually shaped brush, including brushes in the form of stars and BLOB. Click the selector menu icon to access other specialized brushes sets. You can use the selector menu to display a thumbnail of the brush stroke or set it to show the tip of the brush and the name. The numeric value indicates the initial diameter of the brush in pixels. You can customize it to your needs. When you select a new set of brushes, you can replace the default existing set or add the new package to it to use both.

There is little worse than have hundreds of cool brushes gone in an instant. He came to me on one occasion when my hard drive fried and did not save all my custom stuff in Photoshop. I will help you to avoid any tragedies and you say how to save your brushes. Once you have an amount of brushes made (I personally as create "sets" of brushes all kinds of work together, or just happened to fit my mood this day here!), go in "edit" and then select "Manager of preset." A window with all of your current brushes will be displayed. You can click on each little square individually. What you will want to do is shift + click with the right button on the set of brushes that you want to save. Once you have made, click on "save Set", give a name to all and save it on your computer (of course these brush files are what you will want to save!). There, you're done!

Everything you try to do it in Photoshop, then, the chances are that your starting point will be the Toolbox or menus. While the Toolbox contains daily tools such as selection, filling and forms, menus have more complex functions like blur, sharpen, and all the other Photoshop effects can reach (mainly in is located under the menu Filter). When you select a tool from the Toolbox, you can edit its settings by using the toolbar - options in the menu will be generally open a dialog box. Finally, when you want to return back and edit something that you has already put on the image, you can use the palettes, although they have some other uses too, including changing colors.

The problem with a large number of these applications is that they use pre designed templates which user pieces together to form logos that are truly original, which seem to be sometimes a little generic. While these applications the user can start quickly create logos, designs and graphical models that they do often simply not produce designs that are original and sought after by clients of web design. If you take the time to learn adobe Photoshop, there is no limit to the logos and graphic designs that you can put together. While the interface may seem a little overwhelming at first, Photoshop learning is not difficult if you have the right tools and take the time to practice.

Adobe Photoshop is the photo digital choice number a software editing among professional photographers of today, graphic designers and Web designers. It is not only the best but easier to work with what you think. Many hesitate, from Photoshop, because it are intimidated by the complexity. With the help of a good Photoshop tutorial, you can start learning Photoshop a few minutes and on your way to restore these old photographs and the preservation of memories of your family for the coming year. There are less expensive digital editing applications, but the problem is that they often have very limited capacity when it comes to high-quality digital photo restoration. These cheaper digital photo software often use a one size fits all approaches for photo restoration and they just do not have the functions of all types of damage that you may encounter in the renewal of your old photos.

The Web of Digital Caledonian site is user-friendly and offers comprehensive information relating to the services provided, so that provide articles on various aspects of digital photography and links to sources of hardware, software and reference material to fans of photo restoration. For more information about the launch of restoration of photos free new hassle of digital Caledonian and service enhancement contact Charlie Templeton or visit http://www.caledoniandigital.co.uk.

Press photographers deal systematically images using Adobe Photoshop software. But there is a basic principle in the world of Photojournalism that what has been authorized to make the engravings in the pre-digital days of darkrooms is all acceptable today. Go back to the time of the darkroom, we used tools very basic to develop prints. Printing black and white, the contrast of an image was controlled by rank of a document. The number of the document, plu the contrast. In wire agency darkooms, I worked, we used generally categories 3, 4 and 5. We welcomed "dodge and burn" to lighten or darken areas. Dodge tool was made by the registration of a small piece of cardboard the size of a quarter on a trombone. A burn tool is a piece of cardboard the size of a sheet of paper with a hole in the Centre of 810.

Learn Photoshop - File Formats in Photoshop

If you have received your new digital camera, and you're ready to go out and take photos. But what is the next step? Well, get a form any Adobe Photoshop (preferably elements 3 or 2 CS) is a major step in the right direction. Once the program is installed, it would be not to pick up a Photoshop tutorial for it.

The Photoshop tutorial will help you understand what the program is capable of, and how you can use the tools to their full capacity. Which cannot respond, however, is what format it uses and saves in, and what advantages and disadvantages there are different file formats.

Photoshop has the ability to open and save many types of files, but more important still, you must be aware of why these types of files exist and how to use them to your best advantage. It is essential to know the different types of files, while you learn Photoshop. There are three basic things this concern file format, that will determine how you save your file: image quality, layering and the use of the web.

Image quality:

When you take your pictures, you want to use the pixel more high possible definition that provides your camera. For example, if you have a 5.1 megapixel camera, then you must use this parameter to capture your images - more rasterizing, more quality. The thing to remember, however, is that quality is high, plu file. You have the possibility to change the size of the file directly from the camera and need to consult the manual of your if it is something you want to do.

It is best to take photos in raw image and then convert into something smaller, later, because you will have the opportunity to manipulate the image when it is more important, it may be better. Once you have taken the photo and it imported to your computer, it can import as .jpg or .jpeg, or as a raw image. It is best to save raw images, because you will lose a part of the quality with the .jpg.

Overlay:

Once you have the photo in your computer, the photo will usually open using your default program, you will need to open Photoshop and open the image. You will then have the opportunity to make your resizing, stratification and manipulation in the program itself.

If you save the image directly in Photoshop, it will be to save it as a .psd, .pdd or .eps file. These formats will keep the large file, and preserve all layers, so consider when recording. If you are going to rework the image at a later date, it is better to save in this mode. If this is not the case, then you have some other choices.

The .tif or .tiff was frequently used with scanners at the beginning and will preserve the majority of the quality, but it saves large files and are best used if subjects them to a Publisher or printer.

The .bmp or a bitmap is a file Windows ® that creates good photos, but still creates a large file.

The .pdf is an Adobe Acrobat ® file and the texts and images of locks so that they cannot be handled more. If you want to create files like these, you probably need to buy the full Adobe Acrobat version.

Use of the Web:

The best file formats for Web use would be, of course, must be small file sizes. Several times, however, the compression takes some of the range colours and the dynamism of the photo.

Joint Photographic Experts Group - .jpg or .jpeg is probably the most popular Web form, because it compresses the small file, but still can display millions of colors. Photoshop give you the possibility to choose compressed how you want that image to be, and you'll want to play with Adobe Image Ready until you have found a file size of small size which does not seem to lose all the colors and the intricacies of the photo.

Portable Network Graphics .png is a recently developed format which became popular for the use of the Web. It compresses the files differently than .jpg does, but it leaves the best quality photos. He has the ability to maintain millions of colours and transparencies, but keep the relatively small file size. If you are on a PC, however, keep in mind that Internet Explorer does not support it.

Graphics Interchange format or.gif is the other popular Web form, but it is not ideal for photos. It is preferable for the graphics and illustrations, because it loads quickly and has the capacity to animation and the transparent color.

This should be a direction that is helpful to start in the world of manipulation and digital photography. Allow yourself time to explore all the possibilities of current programs and settings on your camera. Learn the basics of computer science in various photo editing programs can be a lot of hard work. If you want to be able to control all immediately, you'll only up shorted.

Learn Photoshop now - Straighten Crooked Photos using the measurement tool

I found the best way to straighten images in Photoshop is to use the measure tool, which fortunately takes all the guess of the process work. As you'll see in a moment, as long as you have something of the photo that should be straight, Photoshop almost all of the work do for us! Measurement tool is hidden behind the eyedropper tool in the tool palette, and you have to click and hold down your mouse button on the eyedropper tool for a second or two. One of fly-out menu appears and tells you other tools hiding behind it. Click to select the measure tool.

First of all, you want to get something in your picture that should be straight, horizontally or vertically. Then, you want to drag along its border with the measurement tool so Photoshop has something to work with when trying to calculate warped how the photo actually is. In this case, I click and drag horizontally along the roof of the building behind the freedom of Mrs. Clearly the roof should be completely level, but is obviously not at the moment. I can simply click once on the left side of the roof and now my mouse button pressed, drag on the right side of the roof. Photoshop uses the angle of the line that we just created to discover how the image should be rotated to correct it.

So, basically, to straighten something all you need to do is click and drag with measure tool along the edge of something in the photo that should be straight horizontally or vertically. You can search in the Options bar at the top of the screen and see the angle of the line you just drew (this is the number listed on the right of the letter "A"). In my case, we can see that my line is on a 1.9 degree angle:

The Options bar should be showing the angle of the line that you drew with the measurement tool. Photoshop now uses this light to know how much to turn the image to correct it. To find the command "Turn canvas - arbitrary" click on the Image menu at the top of the program, choose canvas rotation, and then select arbitrary:

Go to Image > rotate canvas > arbitrary. I have to laugh whenever I do that, because the word "arbitrary" actually means at random or by chance, but this is exactly the opposite of what we do here. We will not for random image rotation or nothing left to chance. We used the tool to find exactly how a corner our image should be rotated by, and now Photoshop may use the information we have given to straighten our image without any guess work. As I have already said, a large part of the problem with Photoshop learning comes to move to the terminology, and in this case, I do not know what thought Adobe.

However, life continues. Once you choose "Arbitrary", Photoshop opens the dialog of canvas to rotate, and as we can see, all the work has already been done for us. In my case, Photoshop is already entered in a 1.85 for the Angle option value, and he even recognized that the image must be rotated counter-clockwise, CCW option is also selected:

Photoshop tutorials: The "rotate canvas" dialog box with the angle and the direction already selected for us. You may wonder why Photoshop is entered an angle of 1.85 when the Options bar showed an angle of 1.9 a moment ago. The reason is that Photoshop rounds off the corners in the Options bar to 1 decimal place, so he showed same 1.9 If the angle of the line we drew with measurement tool was actually 1.85. The angle indicated in the Rotate Canvas dialog box is the correct angle.

Everything we need to do is click on the OK button in the Web dialog box rotate output and have Photoshop rotate and straighten picture for us. You should see that the image is now properly rotated and straightened. Everything seems great, and fortunately that the Statue of liberty is based is no longer on the right. We adjusted the image without any work of guess with measure tool and the canvas to rotate command.

You will notice that there is a minor problem. When we did turn the image in the document window, we have created some blank areas of white cloth outside the photo. We will want to finish things off the coast by removing these areas using Photoshop crop tool. You can select the crop tool in the tool palette, or simply press the letter c on your keyboard to select with the shortcut:

Using the crop tool click on close to the upper left of your image and made dragging downward, downward to the right to create a border around the area of the image that you want to keep. You can refine your selection by dragging one of the handles of angle or by dragging the top, bottom, left or right sides of the selection:

Use the crop tool to drag a selection around the part of the image that you want to keep. Once you've dragged your cropping border, press enter (Win) / return (Mac) to have Photoshop crops the image.
