Guest post by Dave Ludwig, a senior writer on the Office PowerPoint team.

screenshot of rolling ball animationBack in the day, clear and concise text was the key to a good presentation. But the game has changed. People expect your slides to dance. Well, not really dance, but they certainly expect some animation here and there.

That's why we've added two new lessons on PowerPoint animations to our PowerPoint skills builder--a free video training series. Here's what you'll learn:

Lesson 1:  Animations and transitions

Video 1: Learn how to quickly add an animation and set its options. Video 2: Learn how to animate text, charts, and shapes. Also included in this video is a tip on how to copy animations using the Animation Painter.Video 3: Learn how to apply an animation to all slides using the Slide Master.Video 4: Learn how to apply an animation effect between slides. PowerPoint calls this a "transition."

Lesson 2:  Going further with animations

Video 1: Find out about the Animation Pane (previously known as the Custom Animation Pane). This pane is the key to getting fine control over your animations.Video 2: Learn how to get control over the timing of your animations. Speed things up, change the duration, and set a delay.Video 3: Learn how to change the order of animations. Screencasts - effective training of technology in business

We had the rapid development of technology for new mobile devices and platforms, virtualization, cloud computing and more. But we also met the severe financial crisis in 2008. In enterprises, more people are upgrading their products with new technologies and systems of OA. Of training and our days of high-quality low-cost of new technologies is what companies are looking for. When a company will adopt the new product of software or a new system to give them a higher productivity and greater functionality, training is the essential element before the technology is widely used. The

traditional send your employees or users at a cost of training a mass of money and time and it means that you lose the productivity of your employees. And the truth shows that generally they learn in training classes. When they start to use the new software application, they encounter difficulties everywhere in the world. At this time of recession, labor markets, good solutions that can achieve the effective result are the choice for most companies. As e-learning and knowledge management come to be popular in the formation of the company, the presentation-oriented task screencast is a good solution for the training of the technology in the business. A screencast is a digital recording of computer screen output, also known as a video screen capture, often containing audio narration. It is a powerful tool to demonstrate the technical tasks, or to illustrate technical concepts that are difficult to explain in terms of recording screen and slide shows.

There are two ways to do the screencast training: someone is or do it yourself with screencasting tool. There are some professional companies such as AotoDemo, which makes the demo software and demo of website for the company, but the cost is non-budget of some companies in these difficult times. To make it yourself, there are many applications of software available to produce a screencast. What software you need depends on your computing platform and the content you want to do. Screencasting tool I am suggesting is DemoCreator for Windows. Some free solutions

as TipCam or Camstudio can also be your option. The main drawback is that free applications are almost no editing features. To make a screencast with DemoCreator, you 4 steps to go: prepare your script, record the activities of the screen, change your record and publish your movie. Here we will take a look at some features of DemoCreator:

Record the activity on the screen as slides for easy Edition DemoCreator Records with audio video tutorials by screenshot and show exactly how the application (such as the PoDokusbinational, Photoshop and Web site) or the system works. The recording of the screen is registered as the slides. This allows users to save the desired slides and discard unwanted for their presentation slides.

Edit the tutorial for registration with interactive objects for explicit illustration is a library of objects to decorate the registration, such as Flash animation, highlight boxes and clickable buttons to direct users to a different slide or a URL of the page. Users can improve the presentation by adding objects to explain the illustration. And it allows users to re-record the narration or audio training conattemptsto import. In addition, several projects tutorial can be integrated as one.

Publish the presentation of online training to interactive training presentations, publishing output media type used primarily in DemoCreator is Flash movie and Html. trainers can provide compatible with SCORM or AICC video tutorials. Screencasts are available through commercial and open source for learning in school education and training of enterprise management systems.

The formation of screencast is clearer and more interesting than the traditional teaching; of training tutorials can be played as many times as necessary; the demonstrative videos are for "at any time and anywhere" learning... These benefits are screencast an outstanding training method, especially in this difficult economic period. For the company, con trainingtent can be the

As SharePoint knowledge management system or management system like Moodle Learning for the sharing of knowledge and technology training. Then, students and employees can learn Internet technology fcoily.

Software Sameshow E-learning is dedicated to providing ideal presentation and learning content authoring tools for trade shows, learning line, business, Conference, presentations and business etc. To learn more about the training of screencasting.

New Excel macro of training videos for beginners

Today's post was written by Angela Chu-Hatoun, senior programmer author on our large Office team, much more technical than I am that, frankly, and to explore the deep down side of programming, how it works and how can you even do it well.

This can post 13, on the MSDN Office client developer content-blog originally appeared last Friday, (display name: dev docs) and I had to Angela simply questions whether I was able to publish it here. I figure that there is a good tandem piece on my post September 2010 what is a macro and why you should use it.

Developers and power users still no programming using the Excel object model take note: there is a new series of videos that show how to create, edit and run macros in Excel 2010: Save time by creating and running macros in Excel 2010.

Excel training videos about creating macros

This set of four videos ranges in length from three to five minutes. To learn an object model for our purposes, I would like to call the first two videos in the set:

The first video in the series shows how to record a macro that fills a number of cells in a workbook. The second video shows how to view and edit the Code Visual Basic for applications (VBA) for the recorded macro in the Visual Basic Editor (a MIcrosoft programming language tool).

In General, is the application object model for Office client applications that support macro recording, use the Visual Basic Editor the code which is a convenient way to learn a recorded macro (Excel, Visio, Word) and write the code for a task, the set of actions in the application's user interface associated with. You can use the code as the basis for the recorded macro and extend the functionality by more code to achieve your purpose. Recently, I have to a similar approach to how to use the Word object model, learn to look for a string in an e-Mail message. I tried recording a Word macros in the search for a string in a Word document. Then, I have adapted the code and wrote the macro for the blog post look like to a string in an Outlook e-Mail message and automate a response that contains the string.

(Already lost a bit?) What read an string is in computer science. (This is all easier than you might think.)

If you are new to programming with the Excel object model or even Visio, or Word, watch the training videos and consider approaching the object models by recorded macros!

(Thanks Angela;) I guess really let you steal me this amazing information. People do like you is one and expand you: go to the Office Dev Docs Blog and learn some new tricks. (Well, I go this programming to explore me... abdomen)

FrameMaker 10: Using Element Descriptions to cut down writers’ training costs and efforts

The guided-tour like authoring experience of FrameMaker just got even better. In addition to the structured view, element catalog, and view elements as tags, FrameMaker 10 displays element descriptions next to the element names in the element catalog. This article introduces Element Descriptions and illustrates how you can port additional text/help that appears next to the elements in FrameMaker for writers, resulting in savings in the cost and effort involved in training new writers.

FrameMaker 10 further simplifies structured authoring by displaying description of the various elements next to the elements.

Structured FrameMaker 10 with default Element Descriptions in Element Catalog

You can edit the element descriptions to provide contextual, element-level help to your authors. A good, thorough implementation of these descriptions can save you time, effort, and money and will be especially useful for the new authors in the team. You can do this with a fraction of the cost and effort of having to train new writers about the vocabulary (i.e. elements) of your structured applications.

Using the DITA 1.2 task template as example, the following steps illustrate how you can augment the textual descriptions of your templates to simplify the task of using structure even further.

1.       Open the relevant structured template .fm file and select StrutureTools > Export Element Catalog as EDD. (See structapps.fm for the name and location of the template file.)

FrameMaker creates a new document as an EDD that includes the structure and the elements of the template.

2.       Save this document.

1.       In the EDD, locate the element tag in the EDD that you want to edit.

2.       After the “Container” tag in the relevant element tag, insert the DescriptiveTag element and type in a description relevant to the element. If the DescriptiveTag element is already present, you can edit the description.

The element descriptions you typed into the EDD are now in template. Now when you create a new document based on the updated template, you see the element descriptions next to the elements in the Element Catalog. The figure below displays the edited descriptions of the elements prolog, related-links, shortdesc, task, and taskbody.

Over time, edit the descriptions recursively to address the doubts and frequently asked questions of your writers for various elements.

This entry was posted on April 11, 2011, 4:13 am and is filed under FrameMaker. You can follow any responses to this entry through RSS 2.0. You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
