The Girl With The Photoshop Tattoo

How great is this?? Designer Megan Orsi writes,

When I was in high school, I spent every waking moment in Photoshop creating websites and collages for my favorite show, The X-Files (don’t laugh!). Thankfully, all of the time I spent paid off and now I’m able to use my Photoshop skills on a daily basis doing a job I love. Photoshop’s been a big part of my past, and now, it will always be a part of my future. Thanks, Adobe ;-)

Hope everyone enjoys the Photoshop Toolbar Tattoo =D

Fantastic. (Your move, Goran Peuc. :-))

“Get your scanner to work with Photoshop CS6″

Over at Macworld, Jay J. Nelson has a useful summary of ways to get your scanner to work with Photoshop CS6. He describes various architectural changes that have complicated the process over the years, and he lists workarounds for problems like scanning not working on OS X 10.8. [Via Bryan O'Neil Hughes]

“Photoshop CS6: From The Inside”

Last month I mentioned the Photoshop User cover story from PM Bryan O’Neil Hughes in which the team talks about what they do, the thinking that went into CS6, and more. The story is now available in HTML form via Scott Kelby’s blog.

LayerVault adds new features for Photoshop collaboration

LayerVault is a PSD-savvy service for versioning & collaborating on design work, and it’s just added a swath of cool new features (the “Wormhole” mechanism for inspecting changes being especially neat).  News site BetaKit writes,

Users can now view edits happening in real-time, and open compatible files directly in the browser, meaning less popping in and out of apps just to make a few minor tweaks. Tools added now let them pick colors and create transferable palettes on the fly, for instance, as well as measure design components with a click.

Here’s a 1-minute tour of what’s new:

Photoshop Lightroom 4 now available

With all of the excitement around the Creative Cloud & Creative Suite 6 launch I wanted to reminder you that back in March we released version 4 of  Photoshop Lightroom following a two month beta trial period which started in January. For anyone not familiar with Lightroom, its our professional photo management application used by photographers – both amateur and professional – to quickly import, manage, enhance and showcase their snaps.

With this latest upgrade, there are a raft of workflow improvements and features which nod to the increasing use of, and need to integrate, both still images and video within photography workflows. With new video capabilities increasingly being built into cameras, more and more photographers are finding they are expected to also have key video editing skills.

This means that today’s students will also be expected to have these skills when they enter the workplace, whether straight from school or after having completed their higher education. To make Lightroom 4 more accessible to a broader range of students and teachers, a Student & Teacher edition of the new software is available for £59.09 inc VAT, which is 50% less than previous versions of the product. If you want to learn more about how you can use Lightroom 4 in your lessons, then check out our series of how-to videos.
