This is something OT, but I can not seem, leave a comment if you "is associated with an existing blog theme".
As well as always, Ron, I would really is a blog about the question whether "Space before" or "Space to" appreciate paragraphs. I understand the basic differences, but I would discuss that for use as a matter of policy for a new document like to see. It has become a major problem in a number of documents that I edit am, which have a number of different authors.
I reflect prepared a number of training documents that use hierarchical section headings, to the structure of the content. An example of this would be:
Lathes (category 1)
Types of lathe (category 2)
some text... (Normal)
Basic parts (heading 2)
Spindle stock (heading 3)
some text... (Normal)
Tailstock (heading 3)
some text... (Normal)
etc..... You get the idea.
Here's the thing: most people want a large room in a large title (such as heading 1), a slightly smaller space on its subheadings (such as heading 2), and only a single line spacing (typically 12 points) between paragraphs style normal.
This means that "Space before" would be the best strategy. However by default word "Space after", so all these styles front must change. In addition, "Spacing before" is that also it space on a heading when displayed in the top row of a page that is not what you want. In other words, you want to have headlines, a "space before" except if they are at the top of the page.
You can do this by immersion in file | Options | Advanced | Layout.
But must all styles the inbuilt "space before" amended and enhanced is that I am advanced layout options, to suppress the unwanted gap at the top of the page, I'm starting to think, no intention of using a Weise Microsoft Word!
It is even more chaotic, if other factors that send in text that "Space to" is done by default.
So maybe, the standard "Space to" is the normal way to go. Is to get rid of the unwanted space at the top of a page. But how on Earth automatically get to enter a larger space to heading 1, heading 2, and so on, without fraud or more paragraph breaks? I'm really strict about such Bodges not allowed. Keep in mind: tell me not some add "Space," as also "space after" to the styles for headings, because then you have clutter in the advanced layout options to suppress these unwanted gap at the top of a page of!
Clearly, I understand not the underlying philosophy behind the word standard "Space after" approach. Perhaps you could discuss on this issue "in the round" and talk, when to use two different approaches, the forward and disadvantages of each, and why Microsoft has decided that "space to" standard.
I am sure that insight from "know where" would appreciate many heavy duty users of Word, on the subject.
Thank you very much
Steve
