Deploying access applications using the Terminal Services and RemoteApp

One of the great advantages of access is the diversity of the ways in which you a group of users can deploy a database application. For example, if you use access 2010, you can publish a database to a SharePoint Server services, so that anyone with access to this server to use the database. However, if this type of deployment is not an option for you, John Litchfield and Luke Chung from FMS, have posted an article which shows Inc., such as an access application by using the Terminal Services or RemoteApp components of Microsoft Windows Server to provide. Here is an excerpt:

"Terminal Server is particularly powerful for database applications as, because you do not need to install Microsoft Access on each user, ensure Microsoft Access that the correct version of access is loaded, whether the latest front-end database application will be deployed, and the need", large amounts of data over the Internet for access to process send. "It all is on the Terminal Server computer with the local network bandwidth, and only the screen is updated as it changes."

What is with this annoying spelling checker?

We all know, it is important, our documents spell check before we present it to others, but sometimes it is not so easy to use the spelling checker in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook.

Administrative pros: what have you done for you lately?

They know it, you will see how they run all over the Office every day, and you have cluttering their inboxes with your requests for a probably - at one time or another - new computer, a better Office and a way to hide from the local Chatterbox in their offices). (Who, me?)

Who are you? Where they come from? And why are we bound so to them? Why, they are your administrative professionals, of course, and the last full week of April - in April each year - is your week.

So tell me: what you have done for your Admins lately?

Admins frequently, is what to do in the background and not fully felt, the rest of us. (Some of us have jobs, as the create a fabulous piece of software such as executives, who speak with the media, developers, higher profile and obtain a patent, and oh, I do not know popular online columnists.) So that they do not credit, thank you, praise and devotion which they richly deserve.

Now, let me tell a little about what these people do, so you can start your appreciation engines running:

They arrange all your Reise.Sie keep a close eye on the team for the fiscal year budget. (We can complain to them is over, the, but it's not their fault, which takes customer service problems before your bowling morale events.)They your meetings schedule, organize them and find conference rooms (where it seem not to have), they in keeping. And let's not forget that they also make sure that your sessions are not snack-less.You keep providing office rooms stocked with exactly what you need.Prepare the computer for new employees and make sure that your computer up to date and working are correct.Manage your calendar and your Inbox (if you have set up as a delegate); in other words, they are your own personal E-mail Filter.Sie help you prepare and set up your presentations - even at the last minute. (You know who you are.)And if they are like our Admins, send important mails to the entire team broadcasting critical information, such as "I have chocolate for inclusion directly in front of my Office."

Must I go on? Yes, I must. Overwhelming because sometimes the load of the work of these people can be and frankly, I'm not sure they are getting help they need.

A better question might be: why have I not done anything yet? Yes, your florist you want to know that the last full week each year the designated administrative is professionals week in April. This is nice and all, but I think that these good people could use some recognition by you more than once in the year. I think mothers get mother's day, but we get the love and affection of our children every day. Same with St. Patrick's day: If you are Irish, you are proud of it. March 17 a day still proud is his. And international talk like a pirate day on September 19th? She will continue on 20 September?

Some suggestions on how you can thank your administrative assistant or Office Manager (or receptionist... or any other kind of person who supports you and your organization) throughout the year are fade:

I was going through the new urban dictionaries for the Windows phone app , when I came in a term that I had never heard. Now, that's what Urban Dictionary is: riffing on hip jargon of today, but still the word of the day for March 22 for a loop me took:

If the temperature in a conference or meeting room is way refused to ensure that no one can nod off during a meeting.

Is hosed again man, the temperature in this space? My fingers were deaf to end this meeting in an employee!

What to do, number and taxi ride together your flight home have?

Today's blog post, it is introduced by Abhay Parekh. Abhay is in his final year of engineering of the University of Mumbai in India a. In addition to his own studies, Abhay teaches students how to create and use Microsoft Access databases to lower-level. What a fighter!
It was a lonely Sunday afternoon when suddenly my cell phone rang. My friend was calling to see if I was done with my software project. Oh, oh. I would get better on it.

I had create a Web site that tracked in real time information about flights, buses, cars and other transportation services for a fictional high-traffic airport. To do this, I had to feed, 75 kilometers of the airport calculated the likelihood of traffic within this mass of transport data through an algorithm. The main part of the database would real-time input for several tables and columns at the same time. The algorithm would then for each flight landed, calculate, so I would have at least 150 taxis available for arriving passengers.

Calculation of real time minute by minute had the website informs all authorities to keep such as the taxi service, air traffic control, airport parking, baggage claim and customs. If one of these authorities in arrears is the website recalculated to affect the other services. I needed a database application, the time for me to focus on the encoding of the front end (UI and scripting part) could freely for my software project. Access 2010 was the answer.

Access 2010 would first receive second by second updates on flight numbers, flight name, flight origin, flight the number of passengers, flight arrival time, flight delay time (if possible) and the like, and store that data in a table. The second table would at the same time take inputs via airport cab information with core details such as cab cab types, numbers, taxi driver name, cab working hours and the like, and information about the other types of pick up at the airport come and then would these authorities of real time info on the requirements of the cabins, Cab behind, passenger backlog, flight delays. Access played an important role in the analysis of the information and processing of the key figures of the specific details.

Also, I wanted to use the website for a card, to map locations of planes, taxis, etc. in real time.  With Bing maps, the site calculates the details and stored at regular intervals in the database. The history in access 2010 predictions would then future requirements and capabilities.

I chose Microsoft Access 2010 from three reasons to use:

With access 2010, the new improved expression builder comes to write simplified my duties of formulas and expressions. This feature allows me to focus on my database creation task. If I write a formula or an expression, it automatically searches it for errors and Autocorrects. I don't even know if I a typo. This saves a lot of my time.

Additional data bars in conditional formatting can you show me my rules to the conditional formatting from a single view.  This in turn helps me in the development of complex reports with Visual impact. This feature allows you to see me, also trends, such as shows of census a country with a growth of the population in the State.

Some University computer do you have installed Linux and not Office. Now, that there are access Web databases I can use any computer, to complete my project work.  I can now access any database in a browser, in fact without access installed on this system. Because these forms in the cloud are to get the changes I make automatically synchronized. Hurray! Access 2010 is my hero!

Access is a database app without which I could have finish on time not this project.  And guess what? My project was awarded UI "Most innovative" design concept and also because of its ability, real time data often and safe track elegant. The Dean of my University congratulated me and asked me how I info could get as fast and smooth database. With a smile, I said "Sir, as always Microsoft and its top of the line products ROCK!" "And as always, I did it with Microsoft Access 2010."

What is Customer Experience Management?

“Customer Experience (CX a.k.a CEM) is the sum of all experiences a customer has with a supplier of goods or services, over the lifecycle of their relationship. This covers several phases including awareness, discovery, attraction, interaction, transaction, use, service, cultivation and advocacy.
These are not simply sequential, rather a Continuum of phases existing with the context of CX.

CX is not something you just bolt on to your existing enterprise architecture.

So why does CEM/CX matter? The simple answer is for retention of your existing business customers. Your competition is a click away and studies show people are 3 times more likely to tell others about a bad experience.  People declaring a bad experience with you are ripe for your competition to steal.

With Social Media, bad CX stories can escalate on a viral basis and ruin a business’s reputation in weeks or even days.  People notice BAD experiences and get emotional!  They want a good customer experience.

Earth Day and the Power of Personal Connections

Today is Earth Day, and in 2011 we are encouraged by the Earth Day Network to join its “people-powered” campaign of pledging our acts of environmental service, with the goal of reaching a billion Acts of Green by 2012. It’s no secret that as a company, Adobe has been at the forefront of implementing green operating practices – in fact, we were the world’s first business to achieve four Platinum-level certifications for energy and environmental design excellence by the U.S. Green Building Council.

This year I also find myself reflecting on the various ways that our enterprise technology helps organizations leverage green business practices that ultimately help them decrease their environmental footprint, while increasing business efficiency and connecting people across geographies and time zones.

Acrobat solutions allow our customers to reduce the use of paper documents, while Adobe Connect makes it possible for people to collaborate and communicate globally in real time, helping reduce business travel and its related environmental impact.

For example, the U.S. Government Printing Office was able to save 20 million tons of paper over five years by using Acrobat and LiveCycle to generate, authenticate and share documents electronically. Adobe Connect enabled more than 50,000 SAP employees to communicate around the world instantly, reducing the company’s travel by as much as 90%.

And all along we have been focused with our Customer Experience Management platform on delivering highly personalized, engaging online interactions between enterprises and their customers to power great customer experiences that build brand loyalty without all the environmental damage caused by burning fuel for worldwide travel and wasting paper when electronic means would suffice.

That’s why I found it so interesting when I heard recently about an acquaintance who received a personal, handwritten note – not a personalized email – from leading online retailer Amazon.com, thanking him for his business over the past nine years.  That act of personal outreach had a marked impact.  He not only felt valued by Amazon.com after receiving this note, he now associates a human face with the company.

Can this be done in more environmentally friendly ways?  Of course it can.  Record a quick Flash video and send it on to someone you want to thank.  Send them a personalized PDF portfolio complete with pictures of past experiences together.  The Amazon story is about personal touch – about a real person inside a company reaching out to another real person to establish trust and loyalty.  Just because we are using greener means to communicate doesn’t mean we have to lose the essence of one-to-one personal communication.  In fact in many cases the technology allows us to do it more effectively.

This act of a real person at Amazon.com reaching out to a customer in a very personal way underscores the desire for us to connect with each other, even in our always-on, always-connected online business and personal lives.

We have powerful technology that enables us to know our customers and connect across geographies without the need to ever leave our offices — and that’s a great thing. Yet, we shouldn’t forget that behind the technology lie people.

And so on this Earth Day, I’m going to follow the “people-powered” examples of the Earth Day Network and leverage our great technologies to send something personal – you should do the same!

eSeminar now on demand: Rapid Animation Generation for Avatar Personalization in Adobe Captivate 5 Projects

Admittedly bizarre but tons of fun, this week’s eSeminar focused on saving money and still getting high quality images and animations for your eLearning modules by leveraging free animation software to create animations and even stage complex simulations. In a test of my rapidly aging laptop I held the session in Adobe Connect, did Captures with Adobe Captivate Full Motion Recording of Linden Labs Second Life and ran a browser for good measure. ;)

Included below is the slide deck for the presentation, also available here via the link with the embedded text. As i mentioned during the session, the notes regarding the efficacy of personalization via avatar inclusion are on the downloadable slide deck here.

One of the more interesting considerations in this regard is what impact the avatar animation will have on learning. Studies related to this topic show that while the animation adds to the interest the learner may have in the content – the animation alone is not sufficient to lead to improved learning. So we have a couple of natural topics that emerge.

Perception: people will prefer the content with animation and slick graphics – if it is efficient and on topic.Learning: people will learn more when the animation is on topic. The theory behind this has to do with how we engage as conversationalists more than any other element.

So should you do animation? When should you do animation. I recommend that you consider animation when you are working on creating engaging interactions that facilitate knowledge transfer by creating recognizable mimetic (story / scene) elements for the learner. If you are training workplace safety for an aquarium, having images of events happen in an aquarium will trigger better long term retention for the staff engaged in the training. Same is true for virtually any contextual information. Since most of the critical training we do is context-sensitive – the call for such images are frequent.

One limitation of stock photography and similar resources is that you often cannot find images that perfectly suit the context of the learning – and its conceivable that these limitations can decrease knowledge transfer. The eSeminar this week focused on using free animation / world creation software to build such context rapidly and at very low costs compared to other animation solutions. Photosynth panorama maker for iPhone

I haven’t played with a lot of mobile panorama-creation apps, but I find Microsoft’s free Photosynth app for iPhone pretty amazing. It captures still images as you pan around, automatically stitching (and optionally uploading) the results.

The example of an aviation museum is especially well chosen: I distinctly remember my deep, painful frustration trying to photograph rockets at the Air & Space Museum as a kid. I’d have found something like this unspeakably wonderful.

Aside: How do companies like Microsoft & Adobe profit by developing advanced technology & then simply giving it away? It’s like First CityWide Change Bank: Volume.

Learn Photoshop now - beginning Photoshop tricks


Selection of the colors in a picture turn quickly to any color in the color of foreground press I to activate the eyedropper tool and then click any color in your image. To change the background color of this color, press the ALT key and click on any color of your image.

Change the brush tip sizes quickly with a brush selected, simply press the right bracket "]" to increase the size of your brush, or press the left bracket "[" to reduce the size of your brush. "]"

The tool move and the arrow keys Getting used to activate the tool move through the keyboard is a gain of time. You can do this by using the shortcut, "V". Once you have the tool move enabled, you can use the keys on the keyboard to push a layer or selection in increments of 1 pixel. You can speed up things by pressing the SHIFT key with the key to reposition in 10 increments of pixels.

Hide your Palettes press Tab once to hide all your palettes. Press Tab again to bring them back. Press Shift Tab to hide all your palettes except the toolbar.

Zoom In & Zoom Out you can zoom in on your image by pressing CTRL and the sign more "" (Mac: command and the "" sign). Conversely you can zoom out by pressing CTRL and the sign less "-" (Mac: command and the "-" sign).

Navigating in magnified Images If you have lost your bearings when the zoom in on a large image, you can move quickly to specific views by using the following shortcuts: to define the point of view on the upper left corner of your image the key press. Press the end key to set the point of view on the bottom right of your image. To get full screen from the point of view press the key next Page. Press CTRL Page Down (Mac: command Page Down) to move the screen display a full screen to the right. Press CTRL Page Up (Mac: command Page Up) to move the screen display a full screen to the left.

Select only the Pixels on a layer is an easy way to select an object that is on a transparent layer to press the command key (PC: control key) and click on the layer with the object in the pallet layers. This ensures that only the opaque pixels (pixels are visible) will be selected with ants marching, instead of the whole layer.

Images of tile for better visibility when you simultaneously a bunch of files open in Photoshop, they cascade automatically, and it may be difficult to select individual windows in all the files overlap. To eliminate this problem, choose window > arrange > tile and all your open files will be rearrange themselves to be visible at a time. When you are ready to close the Windows that you do not have to spend time closing individually, use instead the shortcut to close all control Option W (Mac: command Alt W).

Get rid of the Welcome screen - and bringing this back when you open Photoshop CS you probably see a welcome screen with links to tutorials, tips & tricks and a set of color management help files. At a given time, you can stop this screen to come. You should see a check box at the bottom of the screen that you can click to hide the screen at startup. Later if you change your mind and decide that you want to appear once more, you can temporarily bring the screen by clicking on the Help menu and select the Welcome screen.

Cycle through all of your Open Documents sometimes you will want to find one of your open documents which is hidden, but navigate using only the menu window does help because you can not remember the name of the file. Instead press tab several times (MAC and PC) control scrolls in all your open documents.

How to Soft proof an Image with Adobe Photoshop

Today I will show you how to soft proof your images using Adobe Photoshop. Why is soft proofing important? Simply put, soft proofing your images before having them printed is a great way to simulate how they will appear based on the specific printer and paper combination. In the long run it will save you both time and money.

This tutorial is designed to give you a crash course in the process of soft proofing, but remember, soft proofing is done using a computer monitor which has a much wider color gamut than do printers. Soft proofing can never guarantee your print will be exactly like the image your looking at on screen, but it can help you come as close to it as possible.

But before getting started, it is important that you do two things:

The first is to make sure your monitor is calibrated. Once you initially calibrate, be prepared to re - calibrate at least once a month. My experience with The Spyder Series by Datacolor has been excellent, but there are plenty of others to choose from. Just remember, in order to achieve proper calibration, an application like adobe gamma is not good enough. You need a tool that will allow you to measure things like ambient light in addition to monitor color settings.

The second thing you need is to obtain the correct ICC profile. Every device that captures or displays color has its own profile. And the different papers, pigments and inks which are used by many printers make it difficult to determine how exactly your print will look unless you have a preset that allows you to simulate these things. Finding the correct profile is as easy as contacting your print maker. You should be able to download the profile you need directly from their website.

OK now that your monitor is calibrated, and you have the profile you are intending on using, you can finally start soft proofing.

At first glance, my image looks great. The colors are vibrant, nothing looks off. Because I am so happy with the image as it is, I am going to skip adjusting at this point and just duplicate it. purpose first I am going to bring its size in the preview up to 100%. I will explain why this is important a little later. Now that I have duplicated the image I have one for both the soft proof and one to to refer to in case I need to adjust my soft proofed image once I have added my icc profile. You will see exactly what I mean in a few minutes.

Duplicate your image.

Give it a name so that it's easy to decipher from the original. This duplicate image is the one we will be working on. But I want to show you something before we apply our ICC profile. Remember when I told you that our monitors are able to use a wider gamut to display colors than printers do? From View, go to Gamut Warning, and record how much of our image is lost.

Now before you go through all your images turning on the gamut warning, it's important for you to understand that a gamut warning serves as an extremely lenient warning. In English, that basically means to take the gamut warning with a grain of salt. That's not to say the gamut warning is a useless tool. It actually serves it's purpose quite well. What it's telling us is that the missing colors may be difficult for a printer to simulate exactly. You can expect these areas will appear similar in color once printed, but an exact match won't be guaranteed. So the deep reds we see here, and the midnight blue background are likely going to be a bit off.

Just remember, once we've soft proofed our image, we wont be able to turn this warning back on since it will be profiled specifically to the printer's color gamut.

Apply the profile.

Debate the above illustration gave you a better understanding of how important soft proofing really is. So let's go back up to View and then to Proof Setup. This is where we apply the ICC profile.

Because I obtained one this from the print maker it is considered a custom set up. Select Custom at the top and a new window will open up. From this window I will select the ICC profile. Purpose this window serves two purposes. This is also where I will be simulating how my print will look based on the profile I have chosen.

Currency to Simulate is how Photoshop asks for your preferred ICC profile. I am going to click the drop arrow, and select my preferred profile from the list, and then I am going to leave Preserve RGB Numbers unchecked and move right down to Rendering Intent. Perceptual is what I recommend using purpose if you prefer relative colorimetric, feel free to use that instead.

I also recommend checking Black Point Compensation. If you have not got a full understanding of black points, think of it as this: The black in your image may have a brown tone to it, whereas the printer gives black a bluish tone. Black point compensation will find a happy medium for both image and the printer it is being printed with your.

There is one last thing we need to do before clicking OK. We need to choose our On Screen Display Options. Let me warn you ahead of time, this is a hard step to get through. This is also the reason I suggested bringing the image up to 100%. When we click this box, our image will be transformed rapidement. Colors will appear washed out and dingy. Believe it or not, 75% of that is optical illusion. Our eyes have grown accustomed to seeing white a certain way for so long that seeing it any other way just seems wrong.

This is interesting also. As I check Simulate Paper Color, Simulate Black Ink selects itself by default. These two go hand in hand when simulating paper color. Keep in mind that this step does nothing to change my image, it simply simulates how it will appear on paper. And depending on the ICC profile assigned to different paper types, simulating paper color may not always have the same effect. The best advice I can give about On screen display options is the same advice I gave you about gamut warnings. Take it with a grain of salt. Now, I'm going to click OK so that I can compare my two images, and see if I need to make any adjustments. Some people actually prefer to leave off this, and if you are one who tends to overcompensate when applying adjustments to images, you may want to leave it unchecked as well.

Make your final adjustments

Comparing these two images, I definitely want to make some adjustments. Of course I can not instruct you on this last step, since every image is different. But if you really liked the look of the original, just try to bring your soft proofed image as close to your original image as necessary to achieve the look you want.

Note: Please keep in mind that soft proofed images should NEVER be saved with the ICC profile embedded. Make sure to save soft proofed images in sRGB mode.

Did you know you can do animation with Photoshop?


Ah Photoshop. The mother of all photos, software for editing. Although some would dispute that it is not the best, it certainly has a wide audience. I personally like it.

Did you know that except the photos, you can also do animations in Photoshop? Very easy actually.

2 things you need

A good plan of how you want your animation to watch
Adobe Photoshop (at least. CS2) If you have CS1 you can use the same techniques used here with Image ready instead of Photoshop, animation in Photoshop CS2 tools and on are simply copied from Image Ready)

First open photoshop. Which seems to be an obvious step, but you have to start somewhere. Once you open Photoshop don't forget to define the RGB color mode and the resolution of 72 dpi. I.e. standard web and you will save many headaches in the future. Also set the pixel dimensions, and whatever size you want. If you will make an announcement of animation, it would be preferable to use a standard IAB size ad.

The next thing that you want to do in photoshop, once you have your new document in place, is set up in the menu bar and click on this menu and the window raising the animation palette.

How to make Windows Vista Style of the buttons using Adobe Photoshop CS


In this tutorial, I've tried to help Web site developers who are interested in the design of graphics with development. Especially windows vista style buttons on their web pages. Choose Adobe Photoshop CS2 for design web buttons.

Step 1

Start Photoshop. Create a new document with a white background. Change the size (width: 120 x height: 35).

Step 2

Select the rounded Rectangle tool. In geometry options select fixed size (118 W: px - 33 H: px). Make the corner radius to 5px. Game selector foreground color # 3997aa using color. Now press and move
the mouse pointer to draw the rounded Rectangle.

Step 3

Select menu layer - > layer Style - > blend Options. Select stroke. Change Stroke size: 2, position: inside and the color: # 45acc1.

Taming the Wild, Wild, workspace in Photoshop CS2


I would like to offer you a series of articles for Adobe Photoshop covering best practice techniques to ensure the best experience of workflow with this powerful software. In this article, we will be more a handle on your workspace itself. What I mean by tame your wild workspace, it is inevitably that you continue to work with Photoshop you open that lot of pallets because different pallets perform different functions. Rather than close and reopen these palettes, follow you their on screen for the convenience. Pretty your screen will soon be a jumble of tools and palettes. Many times I've seen designers just fighting against various and pallets of various Toolkit on their screen. But don't despair. There is a way to combat this jungle of menu!

To do this you will need to take a few minutes of your time to set up your palettes and tool box exactly as you want before everything becomes a frustrating mess.

First of all, when you open a Photoshop palette, you will see that they are nested in a logical order. Before starting on our tutorial in how to make a Cubism effect in photoshop, let us have a review of our Art history.

Cubism is the most influential, essential, innovative art of the 20th century. This is a complete denial of conventional departure of beauty. It is a joint creation of the two greatest painters Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque.

Cubism is the new way of seeing things in the art. Most of the subject is represented in geometric shapes and sometimes showing many perspectives of a particular image. It is as if the subject is under construction many photos taken from different angles.

Now let's start our tutorial. You need your Photoshop and the image that you use.

Open your Photoshop and then click file, select Open , and choose the image that you use.

Fourth step:

Duplicate "layer 1? and simultaneously modify the copy of color blend Mode." The text should look brighter!

-By clicking the right button on the text layer, choose rasterize Type.

-Select filter > blur > Gaussian blur and set the radius of 2.5 value to soften the harsh edges of the text and make it to mix with the brush stroke.

Fifth step:

-Make a new layer above the background layer and call it "sparkles". Set the foreground color to # fddd03 and use the drawing of lots Brushto sparkles some sparkles around the text, but not exaggerate.

-Select filter > blur > Blur Gaussian and correction of the RADIUS at 0,5 to soften the flakes.

-Finally, choose the image of clouds and place it at the top of the background layer and the layer "flickers". Resize to fit the document if you want, and then change its soft light Blend Mode and its value of 75% filling.

Now the blue colours will employ nicely merged with the more red, creating a background of nice for the final effect.
